I and Vaishali have been married for 10 yrs. She has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Hyperthyroidism. Due to this she always had irregular periods and we were told that having a baby would be challenging if not time consuming. We went through multiple cycles of Clomid treatment. When that didn't work, we opted for treatment using hCG hormone injections. When that too was a failure, we were told that the best option is to go for specialized infertility treatment. These treatments being very expensive in USA, they are usually beyond the affordable range and rarely covered by insurance. Apart from that, since all our parents and family are back in India, we wanted to preferably go through this phase of treatment back home so that an emotional and family support is available. Since we are from Mumbai/Pune area, we wanted to explore the possibility of finding a good infertility specialist (in that area) whom we can consult with during our forthcoming visit to India. We were looking for someone who is not only a leader in this field, but also someone whom we can trust at emotional level to continue with the process. But this was going to be a daunting task of finding a needle in the hay.

Fortunately, Vaishali's brother in India (who is a pediatrician) did some digging around and based on the feedback he received from his colleagues and acquaintances and his own visit to the clinic, highly recommended Dr. Mandakini Parihar. We were a little hesitant in contacting her all the way from USA through email, as we were not sure if she would respond at all and give us the time we need, remotely. But we were pleasantly surprised to see her prompt response. She was not only very prompt in answering all our questions over email, but even studied our medical reports (that we scanned and emailed her) and advised additional tests which we could do in US - thus saving time.

Within couple of months, we were in India. And rest is all history. Dr. Mandakini very patiently answered all our questions (no matter how dumb or silly they were) and explained the whole procedure in a very easy to understand language. She is very down to earth person, and understands how emotional these things can get, and handles it really very well. Her staff was very supportive and helpful during the entire process. There was an immediate bonding between us and Dr. Mandakini, and there was no second thought that we were going to put ourselves into the trusted hands of her. She started off Vaishali with some medications in order to prep her for the IUI process.

Even though we were driving like about 1.5 hrs one-way to go to her clinic and the number of her patients coming in to see her never seemed to be going down, but no doubt it was fully worth the time we spent commuting. She somehow seemed to have a magical ability to understand your deeper concerns and put you at ease immediately.  She totally understood the time constraint we had. I was going to be in India only for 3 weeks. But Vaishali flew in few weeks early and was going to be staying back in Mumbai for a while. Dr. Mandakini worked with us and made sure that by the time I come to India, we are all set to start the IUI process, and take full advantage of me being there.

The next 10 days waiting for the result was the most taxing emotionally. I came to know the results 1 week after I flew back to USA and Vaishali and I was ecstatic to know that the results were positive. And this happened after the very first cycle of IUI procedure itself. Isn't that awesome. We are currently in 9th week of pregnancy, and Dr. Mandakini is still very attentive to us. She is available anytime to answer any questions either by email or cell phone. What is really commendable is she does all that despite being a very busy person, who in addition to handling her clinic & patients, regularly attends international conferences, publishes papers and shares her work with the community. She immediately makes you feel at home and you feel that you are in good hands. Clearly we would never have found a better doctor than Dr. Mandakini Parihar. She and her staff is really a class apart. We got the best possible treatment from them.
