Excess fat and skin over the eyelids are removed, along with a muscle strip if necessary. The resultant scar is a fine line which falls into the natural crease. Eyelid Surgery may involve the upper or lower eyelids, or both.

The procedure in perfomed under deep sedation by an anaesthesiologist and local anaesthetic. Lower eyelid surgery can be performed as a direct surgical approach, with an incision just below the lower eyelashes (in the natural crease) to excise excess bags of fat and excess skin. Transconjunctival removal of fat bags and laser resurfacing (to tighten skin and remove fine wrinkles) may also be performed.
