| This is one of the most commonly asked and performed cosmetic surgery procedures. Breast augmentation is a relatively simple surgical procedure performed to create aesthetically pleasing breasts. Silicone or saline breast implants, which feel similar to soft breast tissue, are inserted beneath the glandular tissue of the breast. This operation can be done to increase breast size, to redefine the breasts after childbirth, or to recreate symmetry after a mastectomy. It is suggested that all patients 35 years of age or older obtain a mammogram prior to elective breast surgery. |
